The design of fashion products based on trends is inseparable from the study of dress history, which is largely supported by Kostum Barat dari Masa ke Masa by Moh. Alim Zaman—a cornerstone of dress history education in Indonesia. Despite being an older publication, the book remains a primary reference for learning fashion products. This study therefore develops a karuta-based learning medium to create interactive and engaging learning from the book. A qualitative case study with a coloring-book approach was employed to apply digital coloring to the book's illustrations. The book's eras were categorized to determine an appropriate color mapping for each era, which then served as the basis for applying digital coloring to the illustrations and will be continued in the design of karuta as a learning medium.
